The new year of 2010 brings with it a new decade and new opportunities. It seems that the wind power world is waking up from the financial crisis. For The Switch, this has meant intense work with our customers. A large number of turbines are being commissioned, and our total operating power is quickly approaching 3,000 MW. As the sites vary from tropical to extremely cold climate conditions, every park offers a new chance to demonstrate how to make turbines run reliably in different climatic and electrical conditions. The Design Switch has been developing new generators, and many prototype turbines have already gone into operation. With each new turbine design, it takes some time to make the complex process work as smoothly as the high targets we have set for ourselves. We have remained close to our customers and proactively helped them onsite to see that our delivery runs flawlessly with rest of the system. Our development team, too, has been extremely busy. We have many tailor-made generator/converter packages in the pipeline. At the moment, we are also signing new cooperation agreements. Development seems to be the name of the game today for turbine manufacturers, rather than just trying to keep up with the deliveries, as it was a few years back. Permanent magnet generators are definitely the preferred choice, and we are seeing that clearly from their growing order book. Alongside, we are launching a standard machine series and converters to match. This way, we will be able to provide a competitive offering for turbine manufacturers that want to upgrade their turbine with a modern drive train. For them, the advantages are clear: equipment that better fulfills the ever-more stringent grid requirement and a higher yield of annual energy production using permanent magnet generator technology. All this indicates that the new decade will be even busier for Best regards,
