Hafei Wind Power Company gears up for future


The Switch has started delivery of 1.5 MW The Switch DriveTM permanent magnet generator and full-power converter packages to Hafei Industry-Windpower Equipment Co. Ltd. in northeastern China. A fully operational Hafei turbine is currently undergoing the rigorous 240-hour testing. Once successfully completed, the company will be ready to fulfill orders already received in China.

The new Hafei wind power turbine is nearing the successful completion of its 240-hour testing. Once reaching this milestone, Hafei Wind Power will be ready to begin deployment of its turbines.

The Switch began negotiations with Hafei in 2007. The special
The Switch DriveTM medium speed 1.5 MW permanent magnet generator (PMG) and full-power converter (FPC) for wind turbines was designed to meet with Hafei’s specifications. The prototypes and 0-series were delivered from The Switch factories in Finland, but Dongfang in China will support the production ramp-up with local PM generator deliveries in the future.

According to Marko Salmela, Key Account Manager of The Switch for Hafei, “This is the first medium-speed The Switch DriveTM solution delivered. Our customer has been especially pleased overall with our technology. Some of the small issues that arose during development were easily solved.”
